FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

( GRAFTON , WI March 13, 2013) The North Shore Academy of the Arts (NSAA) Arts Mill will be combining two shows in one with the new and thought provoking “Peep Show” along with its two year anniversary show.  Opening night of this visual arts celebration is Friday March 22 beginning at 6pm at the NSAA Arts Mill located at 1300 14th Ave. just south of the Bridge Street dam in Grafton in the newly renovated Historic Woolen Mill.

The public is encouraged to attend the “Peep Show” exhibit.  It will feature NSAA Arts Mill artists, regional artists, emerging artist from The Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD) and artists who haven’t ever shown at the NSAA Arts Mill before.  The “Call for Art” for the “Peep Show” has generated a huge response from artists locally, nationally and internationally.  Never before has an art show like this been produced in this area.  The idea came from the NSAA Arts Mill Director Paula DeStefanis Christensen who has received quite a bit of recognition around the world.

One of the NSAA Arts Mill artists, Val Schleicher, who recently showed with Paula in London and New York as well as interviewed the artist commented, “A show like this hasn’t ever been done in this region.  As an artist, Paula likes to run the edge.”  Valerie will be bringing an interactive video piece to the fine art show.  She is also in the process of planning a future math, art and science exhibition.

The “Peep Show” exhibit will feature tasteful fine art nudes and partial nudes of all mediums that are interactive and require audience participation, contain a number of subject matters such as dealing with breast cancer and other provocative issues, looking at history and touching the intellect as well as the emotions.  A series of awards will be handed out at this uniquely juried event to the best artists and the work will be for sale.

In just the two years that the NSAA Arts Mill has been in existence, it has gone from being small and local to large and international.  Some of its artists have shown in London and New York within the past year.  This fall, the NSAA Arts Mill will be hosting an arts tour to Italy and bringing in international instructors for its “Arts in Residencies” program.  The NSAA Arts Mill has also gained at least 6 new artists in the past few months.  In addition, their annual “Global Fusion” event has connected local artists with artists all around the world.

There will be live music, beverages for sale, demos from artists and more on the night of the special NSAA Arts Mill celebration.  The Arts Mill Boutique will also be open to the public.  Meg Johnson Images will be taking photos of attendees and their guests in a special “Peep Show” style for those interested.  The exhibit will be open to the public between March 19 and April 29.  Please visit www.theartsmill.org for more information or call 262.377.3516.
